My Background
The path to therapy.
Throughout my life, I was always interested in the wellness of others, even from quite an early age. When I decided to pursue further education, it made sense to continue with this passion, and I chose to attend Trent University to obtain a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology. After completing this program, I attended St Lawrence College for the Behavioural Science Fast-Track program. For the past 7 years, I have worked as a front-line mental health worker in a number of community non-profit agencies, supporting those with significant behavioural, mental health, and addiction concerns. Early on, while working in these roles, it became evident that there was a large gap in the system at large, and that more needed to be done to better support people who are struggling. This lead to my decision to return to obtain my graduate degree through Yorkville University in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program.
In 2021, as a Registered Psychotherapist, I began undergoing extensive training for specializations in trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and postpartum and perinatal. This exploration continues to this day, with research and empirically driven outcomes at the centre of focus, and current training continues in these areas and beyond. I currently holds certifications in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapies, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
When I am not supporting clients, you can find me with my family and friends, cooking, petting cats, or listening to a good podcast.
